County Turf Secure UK and European License for Eclipse Reinforced Natural Turf

The Motz Group have granted County Turf the UK and European license for Eclipse Reinforced Natural Turf, the playing surface of choice for the stadium market in Australasia for over ten years.

This hybrid turf provides dramatically increased wear tolerance compared to conventional grass, reduced maintenance and increases frequency of play. It already has a great track record, having featured in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, the 2011 and 2003 Rugby World Cup and the 2006 Commonwealth Games and remains in situ in Australia's premier sports venue, Stadium Australia in the Sydney Olympic Park as well as Eden Park and Waikato Stadium in New Zealand

Chris Medley Operations Director at County Turf said:  "We are delighted to have secured the licence to grow and supply Eclipse Reinforced Natural Turf to the UK and Europe. We are often approached by sporting venues who want to install a reinforced pitch but don't have the luxury of time, which has previously been a limiting factor. Eclipse is a great solution as it is quick to install; if I receive an order on a Friday and we have the turf in stock and transport available, installation could start on the Monday morning and it could be in play a day later - it really is that quick! It is a completely new way to grow and lay turf over here, but given it's proven track record in the southern hemisphere, particularly its performance during the Rugby World Cup , we are confident that it will be the ideal turf solution for many sporting venues in the UK."

Eclipse Reinforced Natural Turf is a patented combination of natural grass growing in a unique stabilizing mat with an open weave backing, which is then top dressed with a specified sand.  In effect it offers a full natural grass surface, yet the roots are entwined in a synthetic turf matrix and are able to grow unimpeded through a dual component backing into the rootzone material below. The infill layer is selected to be compatible with the growing medium on site to minimise any differences between the turf and the underlying rootzone profile. Unlike other reinforced pitches, there is no stitching required and no more ground preparation than there would be to lay a roll of natural turf, and here lies the real benefit of Eclipse- it can be played on immediately after installation, with no downtime, therefore saving time and money.
